'Boondocks' broadcasts its edgy vision | TheNewsTribune.com | Tacoma, WA: "In the opening sequence of Cartoon Network’s new animated comedy series 'The Boondocks,' 10-year-old protagonist Huey Freeman has a dream that he’s the only African-American at a stuffy suburban garden party.

Walking up to a microphone, he makes a brief announcement to the crowd: Jesus was black, Ronald Reagan was the devil, and the government is lying about 9/11.

'No! It can’t be true!' screams a white woman. Everyone at the party begins rioting. Then Huey wakes up to find his cranky grandfather standing over him.

'How many times have I told you that you better not even dream about telling white folks the truth?' he warns. 'You better learn how to lie like me.'"
