There is another exception called a public policy exception, such as an employee fired to discourage him or her from complaining about illegal conduct or a wrong that an employer committed, such as failing to pay workers a minimum wage or overtime pay when it was required. Repa writes that it's illegal to fire a worker for a reason that most people would find ethically or morally wrong."
