Athletic director's death stuns many
Gene Balawajder, the 63-year-old athletic director at Milford and a Hall of Fame track coach, was found floating about 3:30 p.m. Sunday on Dunham Lake in Hartland Township, the Livingston County Sheriff's Department said.
Deputies had been called to the lake, near Balawajder's home, after someone spotted an unoccupied canoe adrift on the small lake. While officers were checking that report, a kayaker found Balawajder's body, deputies said."
